The date of the event is May 3, 2025. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. at the Barber Junction Visitor’s Center. Classes and all activities will conclude by 4 p.m.

What does this event include?
This event includes:
- A 25-minute ride around the museum on our historic train
- Ride on the 1924 turntable, the centerpiece of railroad operations at the largest remaining roundhouse in North America.
- Hands-on classes and activities facilitated by museum educators to earn the STEM Career Exploration Badge
- Transportation SWAP Craft and Exchange
- Scavenger Hunt
- Free time to explore exhibits and Gift Station
- Fun Patch and Earned Badge
- Lunch
How much does this event cost?
Registration cost is $30 plus a $5.10 tax and handling fee for a total of $35.10 per participant.
What's the schedule of the event?

Participating Scouts will be divided into groups based on rank and will be given either AM class schedules or PM class schedules to follow throughout the duration of the event.

- 9:00am-9:40am: Check-In at the Barber Junction Visitor’s Center

- AM Class Groups (Daisies, Brownies, Juniors)
- 9:50am-11:40am: Badge Classes/Activities
- 11:50am-12:30pm: Lunch
- 12:40pm-12:50pm: Train Boarding
- 1:00pm-1:30pm: Train Ride
- 1:40pm-3:15pm: Free Time (Scavenger Hunt, SWAP Craft, Turntable Rides, Gift Station)
- 3:30pm: Closing Remarks and SWAP
- PM Class Groups (Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors)
- 9:45am-9:55am: Train Boarding
- 10:00am-10:30am: Train Ride
- 10:40am-12:15pm: Free Time (Scavenger Hunt, SWAP Craft, Turntable Rides, Gift Station)
- 12:20pm-1:00pm: Lunch
- 1:10pm-3:15pm: Badge Classes/Activities
- 3:30pm: Closing Remarks and SWAP

What if it rains?
This event will be held rain or shine. Most activities are indoors, but there is walking between buildings. Please dress for the weather.

Is lunch included?
Lunch will be provided for all ticket holders. Our two lunch options are included below. Please note that our vegetarian option is available by request only. You will be asked to select your desired lunch option during event registration.
Sandwich Lunch Option:
- 1 Deli Meat Sandwich (Ham & American, Turkey & Swiss, or Roast Beef & Provolone on Kaiser Rolls with Lettuce) or 1 Uncrustable (Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly) Sandwich
- Chips/Cookie
- Water and/or a Caprisun
Vegetarian Option:
- Garden Salad with Dressing (Mix of romaine lettuce, red onions, cheese, grape tomatoes and shredded carrot.)
- Humus w/side (Plain and Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. Served with celery, pita bread and baby carrots)
- Water and/or a Caprisun
What is the refund policy?
We do not offer refunds or exchanges unless Girl Scouts Explore Norfolk Southern Day itself is canceled or rescheduled due to weather.
If Girl Scouts Explore Norfolk Southern Day is canceled, we will offer an alternative date. We will offer refunds for 30 days after the alternative date is announced; after that, we cannot give refunds.
