Moving the Military Guided Tour

Tour Times: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.

Join us July 2, 2022, for a Moving the Military Guided Tour at the N.C. Transportation Museum. This tour will highlight military vehicles and equipment in the museum’s collection. Travel back in time as you learn the importance of the exhibits and how they played a role in military history.

Duration: This walking tour lasts about 60 minutes.

Ticket Information: This special tour is in addition to museum admission pricing. Tickets for the tour are:
$10 for Adults
$5 for Children ages 3-12.
North Carolina sales tax applies.

What to Expect: The tour is walking intensive and involves entering and exiting several buildings on the museum property, as well as time outdoors. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own water and to dress appropriately for the summer heat.

Legends by Lantern Tour

October 21, 22, 28, & 29 2022
7:30 p.m.

Come join us for “Legends by Lantern” where we trace the stories and tales of North Carolina Transportation folklore.

Beginning at the Barber Junction Visitor’s Center, the lantern-light tour will visit numerous buildings on site including the Back Shop, Roundhouse, and Master Mechanic’s Office. Join our guides and learn about tragedies of the past, and the rumors surrounding them. If you enjoy lantern tours and old-fashioned legends, this tour is definitely for you.

Duration: This walking tour last about 90 minutes.

Ticket Information: This special tour is in addition to museum admission pricing. Tickets for the tour are:
$15 for Adults
$10 for Children ages 3-12.
These prices do not include taxes or fees. 

What to Expect:  Please check in outside Barber Junction visitors center, adjacent to the parking lot. Tour guides will arrive 30 minutes before the tour.

Please bring a flashlight, water bottle, and bug spray. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for weather conditions as much of the tour will be outside and in unheated industrial buildings.

APPROPRIATE FOR KIDS: The Legends by Lantern tour is appropriate for children over the age of six and adults of all ages. This is not a “Ghost Walk” or “Haunted Trail” and nobody will be intentionally frightened.
