Theme Information

Aviation & Space Days

Come one, come all aviation hobbyists as we will have an out-of-this world experience for you on our Aviation and Space Days. Join us as you make your very own clay planet bracelet, create your own chart for the eight phases of the moon, and learn how the Wright Brothers tested their flyers before their first flight in December 1903. Participants will receive their very own glider to take home with them and assemble to take flight.

Wagon Trail Days

Step back in time and celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with a day of hands-on fun for all ages! Discover how families traveled long distances in an array of wagon types, the difficulty of traveling in these wooden carts, and the limits common to storing provisions in a covered wagon. Kids can play with a variety of old-timey games common to children of this era, pack your very own wagon, create a map using parchment paper, and make your own compass using the template provided.

Ice Cream Days

All are invited to join us for a sweet journey through the history of ice cream. Participants will get crafty in our craft zone, take part in ice cream-related activities, create their own sample of ice cream, and enjoy a scoop of Hershey’s ice cream with their favorite toppings.  Dairy free options are available.  Train rides can be added for an additional fee. Train ride times are at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., & 1 p.m.

Caboose Train Days

Aspiring railroaders get the chance to explore the caboose, a train car that served as the conductor’s office before falling out of use by the mid-1980s. Enjoy caboose-related activities such as designing your own caboose, caboose sensory station (caboose lacing, magnetic tiles to build a rail car), and get the chance to tour a 1970s-era caboose. This theme includes train rides, which is a treat for a Tuesday. Times for the train rides are at 10am, 11am, and 1pm and are an additional price with museum admission.

Note: Cabooses are not ADA accessible due to the vintage nature of their construction, however an ADA car is available on the train ride, with wheelchair spaces and companion seating.
