VolunteerMuseum – Next Orientation Oct. 27th
Volunteers are a driving force at the N.C. Transportation Museum!
Volunteers provide support in a variety of ways at the museum. Whether your passions are in Automotive maintenance, Aviation restoration, Rail operations, Assisting with educational programs, or Helping with special events, the opportunities are endless! View the list below for details to see how your time and talent can best be used to keep transportation history alive and rolling!

Volunteers: Must be 18 years or older. Ages 16-18 must have a guardian present during training and scheduled volunteer hours.

Upcoming Orientation Dates
January 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
March 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Location: Roundhouse Orientation Room
Topics: Volunteer expectations, customer service, safety, benefits, volunteer opportunities, and a short tour of the site.

Automotive
Preserve, maintain, clean and exercise vehicles around the site.
Aviation
Assist with the cosmetic restoration of the Piedmont Airlines DC-3 & other aviation exhibits.
Interpretive
Assist with educational programs, outreach and scouting events and tours.
Special Event
Welcome and engage event guests, provide support to the public and more.
Rail Operations
Preserve, maintain and operate railroad equipment.
