Volunteering At The Museum

Volunteers are a driving force at the N.C. Transportation Museum, providing support in a variety of ways.  See the list below to see how your time and talent can best be used to keep transportation history alive and rolling!

Automotive

Preserve, maintain, clean and exercise vehicles around the site.

Aviation

Assist with the cosmetic restoration of the Piedmont Airlines DC-3.

Interpretive

Assist with educational programs, outreach events and scouting programs.

Special Event

Assist in a variety of ways during special events such as will call, information host, crossing guard, etc.

Rail Operations

Preserve, maintain and operate historical railroad equipment.

Must be 18 or older Volunteer benefits: satisfaction and sense of pride in knowing you’ve passed transportation history on to the next generation.  Annual appreciation dinner, certificate of service, service awards and more.
