Fireworks Over Historic Spencer Shops
Enjoy a night of family fun at the N.C. Transportation Museum for Fireworks Over Historic Spencer Shops on Saturday, July 1! Museum buildings and exhibits close at 5 p.m. Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. and wrap up with the fireworks show beginning at 9:15 p.m.
On display will be the Ride of Pride trucks from Daimler Trucks North America’s Cleveland, NC plant. Activities include a balloon twister artist, bubble show, DJ music, inflatables, corn hole, and other lawn games.
For a small fee, guests are invited to take a ride in a WWII era Dodge Weapons Carrier, as well as a ride on our turntable, the centerpiece of railroad operations at the largest remaining roundhouse in North America. All other activities are free. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Moving the Military Guided Tour
July 1, 2023
Tour Times: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.
Join us July 1, 2023, for a Moving the Military Guided Tour at the N.C. Transportation Museum. This tour will highlight military vehicles and equipment in the museum’s collection. Travel back in time as you learn the importance of the exhibits and how they played a role in military history.
Duration: This walking tour lasts about 60 minutes.
Ticket Information: This special tour is included in museum admission. Donations welcome. Tours will begin at the Barber Junction Visitors Center.
What to Expect: The tour is walking intensive and involves entering and exiting several buildings on the museum property, as well as time outdoors. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own water and to dress appropriately for the summer heat.
