The Duke Endowment Centennial Traveling Exhibit
Join us in celebrating The Duke Endowment’s centennial year! The Endowment is committed to supporting vital programs in North Carolina and South Carolina – living out the vision of their founder, James B. Duke. We invite you to take a deeper dive into the Endowment’s story and learn more about how one man’s generosity continues to impact communities today. We’re pleased to offer a new traveling interactive pop-up exhibit detailing the life and legacy of James B. Duke and his contributions to our state. Special tours of James B. Duke’s private railcar, the Doris, are available on select dates. The Duke Endowment Exhibit will be featured at the museum April 1 – August 15. The exhibit is included with museum admission.

The Doris Private Railcar
A son of North Carolina, James B. Duke was a pioneering industrialist and philanthropist best known for the American Tobacco Company, Duke Power, and generous contributions to Duke University. See how the industrialist traveled for business and pleasure during the height of his philanthropy. The Doris private rail car, named after his daughter, will be open for special tours on select dates. Alongside the tour, learn about the life and legacy of James B. Duke and the Duke Endowment by exploring a new traveling interactive pop-up exhibit the museum is hosting until mid-August.
